Everyone has a sneaking fascination about the workspaces of writers, painters and other creative people. One of the disappointments of my trip to Australia was that I was unable to visit the Brett Whiteley Studio which was near to where I was staying. I'd read that it was closed until 2 days before I left but when I went around there was a handwritten notice saying it would now be closed until July. Brett Whiteley was a leading Australian artist until he committed sucicide in his 50's. His life history easily consumes most myths about the artistic life.
